Accepting Applications for Volunteers In Police Services (VIPS) Program
Alexandria PD will be accepting applications for the Volunteers in Police Services Program. We are currently in need of ten people to start the class in the early fall. This class will be for regular patrol VIPS and School VIPS.
The Alexandria Police Department utilizes the voluntary services of local citizens to enhance existing police services and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
The Volunteers In Police Services (VIPS) Program is a highly structured volunteer program that falls under a para-military hierarchy. The VIPS Program is for interested citizens who wish to volunteer their time as non-sworn, non-paid members of the department. The requested commitment for all volunteers (if at all possible) is twenty four (24) hours per three months/quarter.

The police department continues to receive complaints from citizens regarding unsolicited phone calls from the “IRS” demanding payment or that they are entitled to big refunds. This scam has not only affected our tri-state area, but nationwide. Click on the link above for further information. Don’t become another victim!

Protect yourself from an easy auto theft!
The Alexandria Police Department wants to remind all residents to keep their car doors locked and all valuables out of plain sight.
Recent criminal activity in the area indicates that criminals are getting into unlocked vehicles and taking valuables and/or the vehicle itself without any delay. Always lock your car doors upon exiting the vehicle. Do not leave purses, CD or DVD players, watches, cell phones or other valuables on the seats. Take all valuables with you.
Please do not hesitate to call the Police Department via 911 or 859-292-3622 if you see suspicious behavior in your neighborhood. We are here to serve you.
