M.A.R.T. – Major Accident Reconstruction Team

The Alexandria Police Dept. investigates many motor vehicle collisions and of those a few are serious and regretfully some result in a fatality. This agency, realizing a need to make full and in-depth investigations of fatal collisions, had officers trained in reconstructing collisions. Ofc. Tim Vinson and Ofc. James Brown has attended many training courses through the Institute of Police Technology and Management at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Dept. of Criminal Justice Training at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY and locally through the ARTIMIS Center in Cincinnati

Ofc. Vinson and Ofc. Brown have teamed up with seven (7) other officers from the Bellevue, Campbell Co., Cold Spring, Highland Heights, and the Ft. Thomas police departments to form MART, the Major Accident Reconstruction Team. The team is activated on a callout basis and responds to most major accidents in the county.

Utilizing the team, it frees up on-duty patrol officers to continue their patrol duties and allows the investigation to move safely, expeditiously and thoroughly on the scene, and roadways can be opened to traffic sooner.
